Questions worth asking before you start.
Find answers to common questions about working with Skyshade. If something is not covered, send us an enquiry.
How do I get started with a project?
Send us an enquiry describing what you want to achieve. We will review your requirements, ask any necessary questions and discuss a suitable scope, timeline and budget.
Do I need to know exactly what technology I need?
No. You can explain the business problem or desired outcome. We can help identify an appropriate technical approach after understanding your users, processes and constraints.
How long does a project take?
Timelines depend on the scope. A relatively small website may take a few weeks, while a custom portal or mobile application may require several months. We agree on milestones before development begins.
Will I be involved during development?
Yes. We aim to agree on requirements and design direction early, then share progress at agreed milestones so feedback can be incorporated in a controlled way.
Do you provide quotations?
Yes. Once we understand the requirements, we can prepare a quotation that outlines the agreed deliverables, assumptions, exclusions, estimated timeline and payment milestones.
What information should I provide when requesting a quotation?
Describe your organisation, the problem you want to solve, the type of solution you have in mind and the main features you need. If you have examples of websites or systems you like, you can share them too. You do not need a complete technical specification before contacting us.
Do you develop systems for schools and institutions?
Yes. We can discuss institutional websites, student and staff portals, management systems, information platforms and other custom solutions based on the institution's requirements.
Are the prices on your website fixed?
No. The figures on the pricing page are indicative ranges. The final cost depends on functionality, design, integrations, content, hosting requirements and complexity.
Are domain registration and hosting included?
Not automatically. Domain registration, hosting, email services and other third-party subscriptions are identified in the quotation so you can see which costs are included and which are separate.
Can you integrate M-Pesa?
We can develop M-Pesa payment integration where the required Daraja/API access, credentials, business approvals and provider conditions are in place. Transaction charges and provider requirements are separate from development fees.
Do you offer payment plans?
Payment milestones can be agreed for suitable projects. The schedule should be documented in the quotation or project agreement before work begins.
Will my website work on mobile phones?
Yes. Websites are designed to adapt to different screen sizes, including smartphones, tablets and desktop computers. The layout and functionality are considered across supported screen sizes during development.
Can you redesign my existing website?
Yes. We can review your current website and discuss a redesign to improve its appearance, usability, mobile experience, performance or content structure. The recommended approach depends on the condition and requirements of the existing website.
Will my website be secure?
Security considerations depend on the type of website and functionality involved. Appropriate measures may include HTTPS, secure configuration, input validation, access controls, software updates and protection of sensitive data. No website can be guaranteed to be completely immune to security threats.
Can you help my website appear on Google?
We can implement search-engine optimisation foundations such as meaningful page titles, descriptions, structured content, mobile-friendly layouts and technical SEO improvements. Search rankings depend on several factors, and no specific ranking position can be guaranteed.
Can I update my website myself?
Where appropriate, we can build content-management features or provide training so your team can update agreed content without developer assistance.
Will I own the website or software?
Ownership, source-code handover, third-party licences and usage rights should be clearly stated in the project agreement. We will define these terms before the project starts.
Do you provide maintenance after launch?
Yes. Ongoing maintenance and support can be arranged under an agreed care plan or a separately scoped support agreement.
Do you provide website backups?
Backup arrangements can be included in an agreed maintenance plan. The backup frequency, storage location, retention period and restoration responsibilities should be defined according to the project requirements.
Can I request changes after a project is completed?
Yes. Changes can be handled through an agreed support arrangement or quoted separately, depending on their scope. Any warranty or post-launch correction period should be defined in the project agreement.
Can you improve an existing website or system?
Yes. We can review an existing solution and discuss redesign, performance improvements, bug fixes, feature development or a larger rebuild. Access and an initial assessment may be required.
Do you work with organisations outside Kenya?
Project suitability depends on the requirements, communication arrangements and support expectations. Contact us to discuss your location and project.
We'd be happy to talk it through.
Send your question and we'll help you work out the next step.
